Visakha Bucha Day is held on the full moon in the sixth lunar month which is usually in May or June. Visakha Bucha Day is recognized as the most important day in Buddhism for the Lord Buddha. This day commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Lord Buddha that all happened on the same day in Buddha period. Visakha Bucha Day is also recognized by the UNESCO in 1999 as “World Heritage Day”. Thai Buddhists visit the temples to listen to dhamma preaching and to make merit by going to temples for special observances. Buddhists carry lighted candles, three incense sticks and flowers to walk around the main chapel three times in a clockwise direction.
