World University President's Summit

RH Christopher Patten, C.H.

Dr. Edward de Bono

In an era of skirmish and conflict many nations live in states of disharmony that cannot accommodate the diverse elements within their societies. Differing beliefs, values, the differences between genders, races or religions become the cause of negativity and hostility.

An understanding of the differences between people and the role they play within a society can help harmonize destructive elements and ensure a peaceful future. The role of education is paramount to bringing about such knowledge and understanding.

The 2006 World University President's Summit held at Thailand Queen Sirikit National Convention Center National will explore the theme of ‘Reflections on Diversity and Harmonization” and consider the role education must play in bringing the world to a position of peace. The event will feature a number of keynote speakers of importance including the Right Honorable Christopher Patten, C.H., the current Chancellor of Oxford University and previously EU Commissioner for External Relations, and the last British Governor of Hong Kong, 1992-1997.
