Thailand Cultural Center

The Thailand Cultural Centre is Thailand’s bastion of all things cultural and all things Thai. Located on Ratchadaphisek Road, it is off the usual tourist route, and if authenticity is your priority, this is a genuine ‘Thai’ experience. The centre opened in 1987 and it houses various auditoria with room enough for 2,000 people. It is excellently equipped and its stage productions, concerts, etc. are world class. The centre also features a huge library focusing on Thai culture and an exhibition hall (open weekdays). However, the centre does not only focus on Thai cultural aspects of the arts and music – there are regular international concerts and recitals featuring western orchestras and musicians. If you are going to the centre to experience local culture, it is best to contact them and find out about the current programme before making the journey.

Details: Admission to the center is free, but admission to the concerts, exhibitions, etc. can go up to 2,000 Baht a ticket and beyond depending on what’s on. It is definitely best to check with the center itself.

How to get there: The Thailand Cultural Center is located on Ratchadaphisek Road, quite near to Fortune Town shopping centre in Huay Kwang. Getting to the center couldn’t be easier as it has its own MRT station. However, a trip by taxi from the centre of Bangkok will cost around 80-100 Baht.
