Pratunam Market
Pratunam Market specialises in clothes – lots of them...All different colours, all different styles and all different sizes! It’s one of the biggest clothing markets you are likely to encounter and there’s that ‘new material’ smell everywhere you go. The market doesn’t offer high fashion, but does provide the clothing basics everyone is going to need all year round. For those who need something more ornate, there are a number of tailors in the market who can create virtually anything you want at a price that does dent the wallet too much. The clothes you buy at the stalls vary in quality and prices vary accordingly. Don’t forget to bargain – especially if you buy more than one of the same item the price MUST come down!
The bulk of Pratunam is under cover, but the market spills into the streets in the immediate vicinity. As a result, it’s a bit difficult to wander around, but it is well worth the effort. A lot of foreigners look around Patunam with a view to buying things for export. It’s not a bad idea, but if that’s what you have in mind Borbae might be a better alternative. A trip to the market can be combined with a trip up Bayoke Tower to see the view.
Details: The market is open from 08:00 to 21:00
