Khao Kheow Open Zoo
Khao Kheow Open Zoo covers a vast tract of forestland and is operated by the Zoological Garden Organization.
Khao Kheow Open Zoo has developed a centre for conservation in eastern Thailand. Its objectives are to be a centre of study and research in a variety of biological resources for the conservation and to help future generations.
In the zoo, there are more than 300 species of wildlife living in their natural habitats. The animals include both domestic and imported types. The well-trained animals and birds are put on the zoo’s shows. Recently, the zoo has just added a new feature called “After Dark”. It is a night safari tour by auto-trams.
How to get there: Khao Kheow Open Zoo is about a one and a half hour drive from Bangkok along Highway No. 34 (Bang Na-Trat). Alternatively, taking the Motor Way (new Bangkok-Chon Buri Route) will reduce travel time. The zoo is located at 235 Moo 7, Tumbom Bang Phra, Umphur Sri Racha in Chon Buri Province.
