Unique Running Ayutthaya Marathon 2016

Ayutthaya Historical Park is once again set to be the venue for “Unique Running Ayutthaya Marathon 2016” on 11 December 2016 The event will feature a 42.195 km (26 mile) full marathon, a 21.1 km (13.1 mile) half marathon, a 10 km (6.2 mile) mini marathon, and a 4.2 km. fun run in a course that takes in the cultural sights, historic buildings and sculptures of the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, which is a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. Runners of all ages and levels of ability can apply to join this event, and will be invited to take part in a “Candle Salute Ceremony” on the night of 10 December 2016 in remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and to mark his birthday on 5 December. The Unique Running Ayutthaya Marathon was first organised in 2013 by the Ayutthaya Provincial Administration, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Unique Running, a professional running event organiser. Now in its third year, the Unique Running Ayutthaya Marathon expects to attract over a thousand runners. Ayutthaya was Thailand’s ancient capital for over 400 years. The region still has its own culture as well as handicrafts, food, gorgeous arts and prestigious ancient remains making this running event truly unique.
