Thailand ladies Golf Association (TALGA) announces the hosting of the 24th Thailand Ladies Open during February 9-11, 2011 at Lakewood Country Club on Km. 18 Bangna-Trad Road. This annual championship is an event on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour (LAGT) in 6 countries that is recognized by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation and The R&A as the official Tour for Lady professionals in Asia. The Tour has opened up an opportunity for Asian players to become successful in a career of their choice.

As a stepping stone, many Asian golfers who have won their titles on the LAGT are now ranking in the top ten of the LPGA. For examples, both Shin Ji Yai of Korea and Tseng Ya-Ni of Taiwan won in Thailand before moving on to win the British Women's Open title and many LPGA' s tournaments. Leading Thai players who are moving up the ladder into other Tours include Titiya Plucksataporn, Russamee Gulyanamitta, Virada Nirapathpongporn, Pornanong Phatlum, Ornnarin Sattayabanphot, Aree Song and Nontaya Srisawang.

Thailand Ladies Open is always a popular venue with a large entries from overseas. Although the field is limited to 130, a long list of players are still waiting for their chance to play here. Entries include lady professionals from 15 countries with the biggest in numbers from Japan, Korea and Thailand. At stake is the prize money of US$135,000 and the champion's trophy from H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Thainox Stainless Public Company Limited is the Presenting Sponsor, together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand as the Co-Sponsor of the Championship. Other supporters include Lakewood Country Club (Tournament venue), Mountain Creek Golf Resort & Residence, Singha Corporation Co., Ltd., True Visions (Official TV Broadcaster), KASCO (Official Golf Ball), iThai (Official Media Partner), Panasonic and The R&A.

Hole-in-One sponsors for US$10,000 each are Miyata Space and Craft Thailand Co., Ltd. (Hole No. 3 - 175 Yds.) and Mittare Insurance Co., Ltd. (Hole No. 17 - 168 Yds.) Betty Thai Silk and Jewellers is sponsoring Hole-in-One prize for the Pro-Am Tournament, while PANASONIC will support the prizes for the Pro-Am winners.

The Pro-Am Tournament will be held on Tuesday, February 8th, before the Championship starts. Interested golfers may join this fun tournament by contacting TALGA at 02-2557076. Only 15 teams (3 amateur players plus a lady pro) are open.

In 2010 Thailand Ladies Open, held at The Vintage Club, was won by Lee Jung Min from Korea with the scores of 71-69-71 (211) or 5- under par. She will not be back to defend her title, but this year's field will be very competitive with many young and strong players from Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Thailand aiming to win the title.

Admission to watch the ladies in action at Lakewood Country Club from February 9-11 is free. True Visions will cover the last 9 holes of the final round on Friday/February 11th live from 11 A.M.
