This year’s Thailand Open runs from September 21, 2008 to September 28, 2008 and promises to be a treat for tennis fans. The event offers prize money of US $576,000 and takes place at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani. The main interest in this year’s tournament appears to be the men’s event where “The world’s most exciting player”, world #3 Novak Djokovic, will be playing alongside the likes of Marat Safin, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and local hero Paradorn Srichaphan (coming back from an 18-month injury). Twins Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana also provide local interest with their defense of the doubles crown after their success at last year’s tournament. To ensure a full crowd, organizers BEC Tero Entertainment is offering a 25% discount to ticket holders of the 2007 event. Tickets start at 300 Baht (approx. $9) for qualifying rounds and are available through Thaiticketmajor.
