The event organizers have announced an update on festival activities that will proceed this year, with adjustments made to ensure appropriateness during the period of mourning. The festival remains a celebration of Sukhothai’s timeless culture, craftsmanship, and devotion.
Festival Activities Include:

๐ Welcoming the Dawn of Happiness
Offering alms of rice and dried food to nine monks
at Wat Traphang Thong, Mueang Kao Subdistrict, Mueang Sukhothai District, Sukhothai Province. -
๐ Ceremony to Pay Homage to the Ancient Kings of Sukhothai
at the King Ramkhamhaeng the Great Monument, Sukhothai Historical Park. -
๐ Grand Parade of Krathongs and Lanterns
Parade of large and small Krathongs, hanging lanterns, offering trays, and flower trays. -
๐ญ Cultural Parade from Nine Districts (5 November 2025)
Organized by the Department of Local Administration, Sukhothai Province. -
๐ฏ๏ธ Candlelight Procession
A solemn and graceful ceremony honoring tradition. -
๐ Royal Krathong Floating Ceremony
Floating of Royal Krathongs in Tra Pang Ta Kuan (Main Pond). -
๐ฎ Cultural Exhibitions & Local Market
Featuring traditional displays, handicrafts, food stalls, and Krathong-making activities. -
๐ “Khao Kwan Wan Len Fai” Activity
A special Sukhothai festive dinner celebrating unity and gratitude. -
๐ก Sukhothai Light and Sound Show
A magnificent historical performance depicting the glory of the Sukhothai Kingdom. -
๐จ Traditional Thai Performances
Including Khon (masked dance drama), puppet shows, and classical music. -
๐ธ Legend of Tao Sri Chulalak Performance
Along with Thai instrumental music by local students. -
๐ฅ Muay Thai Kard Chuek & Krabi Krabong Demonstrations
Showcasing Thailand’s ancient martial arts traditions. -
๐ Traditional Fireworks Display
“Ploy Talai Fai Phaniang” — ancient-style fireworks illuminating the night sky. -

Lighting of “Takan” (earthen lamps) in mourning of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
