Sukhothai Light & Sound 2024: Loy Krathong Festival

The 2024 "Sukhothai Light & Sound" event, part of the Loy Krathong Festival, will take place from 8-15 November 2024 at Sukhothai Historical Park. The festival includes a stunning light and sound show, fireworks, cultural parades, and the traditional floating of krathongs, creating an unforgettable cultural experience.

The "Sukhothai Light & Sound" event is part of the 2024 Loy Krathong Festival in Sukhothai, a unique opportunity to witness the ancient city of Sukhothai illuminated by thousands of lanterns at night. Visitors will gather in traditional attire, bringing beautifully crafted krathongs (floating offerings) to pay homage to sacred spirits. During the day, there will be elaborate parades, and at night, a magnificent fireworks display will light up the sky. The highlight of the event is the "Light & Sound Show," offering a mesmerizing experience of Sukhothai’s cultural and historical heritage. Floating a krathong amidst the glowing lights in this historic atmosphere creates an unforgettable memory.

How to Get There:

  1. By Car:
    Sukhothai Historical Park is approximately a 4-hour drive from Chiang Mai or a 6-hour drive from Bangkok. You can take Highway 1 (Phahonyothin Road) to Highway 32 and then continue to Sukhothai. The park offers ample parking facilities.

  2. By Bus:
    Several buses operate daily between Bangkok and Sukhothai. You can catch a bus at Mo Chit Bus Terminal in Bangkok. Once you arrive at the Sukhothai bus station, take a local taxi or tuk-tuk to reach the historical park.

  3. By Plane:
    You can fly from Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang airports) to Sukhothai Airport, which takes about 1 hour. From the airport, the historical park is around a 40-minute taxi ride.

  4. By Train:
    You can take a train from Bangkok to Phitsanulok and then take a bus or taxi to Sukhothai, which is approximately a 1-hour journey.
