.jpg) Among the long-boat racing festivals held annually in Thailand, the festival in the northern province of Nan is among the most popular. This year’s Nan Boat-Racing Festival 2019 will take place over the weekend of 14 and 15 September. The racing boats are usually made from dugout tree trunks and can hold up to 60 rowers. Teams enter in the races from many different communities and Thai art and cultural performances and other entertainment all adds to the festive atmosphere. The boat racing action on the water together with the festivities makes the Nan Boat-Racing Festival a fun and entertaining weekend. On the border with Laos some 700 km from Bangkok, Nan can be reached by bus, train and air. Team registration is open until 23 August from 08:30 Hrs. to 16:30 Hrs. at the Education Division of Nan Municipality.
