Durian Expo 2024

Experience the Ultimate 'Durian Expo at Simummuang Market' from 21-26 May 2024.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) warmly invites both Thai and foreign tourists to indulge in the freshest durian, known as the "King of Fruits," at the ‘Durian Expo at Simummuang Market’ in Pathum Thani, near Bangkok, from 21-26 May 2024.

Mr. Charnyuth Setsuwan, Director of the TAT Bangkok Office, highlighted, "Visitors will be spoilt for choice at Simumuang Market’s fruit centre, where they can explore numerous varieties of Thai Durians. After savoring this ultimate durian extravaganza, tourists can also explore the nearby attractions in Pathum Thani, a neighboring province of Bangkok.”

Over 100,000 durians, featuring both popular and special Thai varieties, will be available around the clock during the six-day event.

Activities will include:

  • Contests showcasing different Thai durian varieties
  • Durian peeling competition
  • Durian eating competition
  • Displays of rare Thai durian varieties
  • Ripe durian selection workshops

There will also be special sales where visitors can purchase certain durian varieties for just 99 Baht per whole fruit. Additionally, for every 500 Baht spent, visitors will receive a 50 Baht coupon for their next purchase of at least 500 Baht.

Ms. Panalee Phataraprasit, Assistant Managing Director of Simummuang Market, noted, "Simummuang Market is one of Asia’s largest central wholesale markets for food products. Covering 560,000 square meters, the market handles a trading volume of over 8,000 tons per day. Approximately 70 percent of the fruits and vegetables consumed in Bangkok and the Metropolitan area are supplied through Simummuang Market.”

The market is situated on over 350 rai of land in Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani province, about eight kilometers from Don Mueang International Airport.

Pathum Thani, located north of Bangkok, boasts several points of interest, including:

  • The Former City Hall
  • The Supreme Artist Hall
  • Dream World amusement park
  • The Golden Jubilee Museum of Agriculture
  • The National Science Museum
  • The National Geological Museum
  • Numerous temples such as Wat Chedi Thong and Wat Phai Lom
