Dok Krachiao Blooming Festival 2016
June - August 2016
Venue: Pa Hin Ngam and Sai Thong National Parks, Chaiyaphum Each year, usually from June to August, Chaiyaphum’s two iconic national parks - Pa Hin Ngam and Sai Thong - will boast impressive fields of blossoming Dok Krachiao or Siam Tulip, a tropically native flower with dramatic pink and purple blooms. Also each year, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) together with Chaiyaphum Province will organise the Dok Krachiao Blooming Festival to encourage local and international tourists to behold the flowers in its natural habitat, thus stimulate tourism income to the locals of Chaiyaphum. During the Festival, tourists will also have the chance to enjoy other natural phenomena and breath-taking viewpoints in the two national parks, including the captivating rock formations and 800 metre plateau of Pa Hin Ngam National Park, and the mountain cliffs and Sai Thong Waterfall of Sai Thong National Park. Tourists are advised to attend the Dok Krachiao festival in mid-July to see the flowers in their full bloom, but tour services at the Parks will be available from the beginning of June. However, the periods of peak bloom will vary on the rain. Other activities at the flower festival include bike riding, hiking trips, car caravanning, cultural shows and music. Specialty products made with locally abundant resources under the OTOP (One-tamboon-one-product) scheme will also be on display in booths around the venue. Pa Hin Ngam National Park is located in the Nong Bua Daeng district while Sai Thong National Park is in the Thep Sathit district.
