Bangkok 100 Rock 2008 (This event has been cancelled)
The Bangkok 100 Rock Festival resumes 29-30 November, 2008 with a change in focus and venue. Although there will still be a mix of Thai and international acts, concentration will certainly be on the former, with basically all of Thailand’s Indy’ bands taking part. Local heroes Modern Dog, Silly Fools, Ebola, Slot Machine, Tatoo Color, Slur, Apartment Khunpa, Scrubb, The Richman Toy, and Brand New Sunset will headline, but a total of 40 local bands will actually be playing.

The Bangkok 100 Rock Festival resumes 29-30 November, 2008 with a change in focus and venue. Although there will still be a mix of Thai and international acts, concentration will certainly be on the former, with basically all of Thailand’s ‘Indy’ bands taking part. Local heroes Modern Dog, Silly Fools, Ebola, Slot Machine, Tatoo Color, Slur, Apartment Khunpa, Scrubb, The Richman Toy, and Brand New Sunset will headline, but a total of 40 local bands will actually be playing. The two-day event takes place at the Military Camp, Vibhavadirangsit Road, slightly north of central Bangkok – easily accessible by taxi. With over 30,000 square meters of space to play with, organizers are looking forward to upwards of 30,000 people per day coming to the event. Expats and foreign visitors will be drawn in by a solid selection of foreign bands, including Welsh band Manic Street Preachers. The MSPs have been around since the beginning of the 90s so they have had plenty of time to perfect their blend of left-wing politics and alternative rock. As a result, they generally do not disappoint on stage. Other western bands include Hoobastank, Ash, and Mele. A one-day pass costs 800 Baht while the two-day pass costs 1400. Tickets are available from a number of department stores and other venues around Bangkok, as well as also online from TotalReservation.com (http://www/totalreservation.com). If you are around at the time, and any of your favorite bands are headlining, there’s no excuse not to attend Bangkok 100. It should be a great opportunity to check out exactly how the locals rock!
