ASEAN Gastronomy Tourism Fair & Forum 2019

 The multiple objectives of the ASEAN Gastronomy Tourism Fair & Forum are to establish a panel of experts for the ASEAN Gastronomy Network, to be a knowledge sharing platform for the network, to gain insights into food trends and the integrated food chain, and to come up with new ideas on gastronomy tourism. Organised by Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports and with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) as a sponsor, the ASEAN Gastronomy Tourism Fair & Forum will take place from 9-10 April 2019, 08.00-20.00 Hrs., at C asean on the 10th floor of CW Tower, Ratchadapisek Road, Bangkok. The event aims to draw 300 participants from ASEAN member states, from both the public and private sectors, including tourism policy makers, national tourism authorities, food producers, farmers, retailers, chefs, hoteliers, restaurant operators, tour operators, health and wellness operators, airlines, MICE operators, film-makers and academia. This two-day event offers the opportunity to learn and discuss that gastronomic tourism experiences are more than just eating and drinking at a specific place or venue. Instead, food tourism extends from production (such as agri-tourism and visiting artisanal food producers) to post-consumption (like value-added souvenir products and food waste management). Participants can learn practical know-how to help them transform local unique assets into innovative and sustainable food enterprises. They can taste great food, learn to live a healthy life, shop for unique artisan handicrafts to create their own “art of food”, and enjoy the story of ASEAN food and heritage. The program for the ASEAN Gastronomy Tourism Fair & Forum includes a keynote speech by Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, workshops with guest moderators, presentations by celebrity chefs, expert roundtable and panel discussions, networking opportunities and the ASEAN Gastronomy Journey Farmers’ market – an arts and crafts exhibition and series of foodie workshops.
