Akha Swing Festival 2025 Showcases Akha Heritage and Highland Culture in Chiang Rai
September 4 , 2025 - August 8 , 2025
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) invites travellers to immerse themselves in the vibrant traditions of the Akha Swing Festival 2025, one of Northern Thailand’s most distinctive hill tribe celebrations. Held only once a year, the festival honors E-Um Sa Yae, the goddess of fertility and abundance, while also highlighting the Akha community’s deep respect for women and their central role in cultural life.
At the heart of the celebration is the iconic Akha swing, constructed from tall wooden beams and used in ceremonial rites and festive games. Akha women prepare intricate traditional costumes months in advance, adding color and cultural richness to the event.
