13th Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony

The annual Wai Kru Muay Thai ceremony has become a firm fixture on the calendars of Muay Thai fans all over the world, and also takes place to celebrate Nai Khanom Tom Day. This year is the event’s 13th edition, which is scheduled to take place on 17 March, 2017 in the atmospheric Ayutthaya Historical Park.

The Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony enables boxers to pay respects to their masters, and to pay homage to Nai Khanom Tom at his statue in Ayutthaya. Nai Khanom Tom was the legendary Muay Thai folk hero who was the most famous Muay Thai warrior of the Ayutthaya period and who remains a hero to Muay Thai boxers to this day.

The ceremony will start at 18:00 Hrs. and everyone is invited to come down and watch this heart-warming display and take part in the other activities too. There are a range of Muay Thai camps and schools on site to talk to interested people and showcase their courses. There will also be demonstrations of crafts such as Aranyik sword making, yantra tattooing and writing.

If you want to enjoy some of the exciting Muay Thai action then stop by the Mauy Thai Tournament which will take place at Wat Langkhakhao (opposite Wat Maha That) in the afternoon of the same day.
