The Bangkok Theatre Festival 2005 kicked off 5 November 2005. The annual showcase of Thailand’s thespian arts is this year found in three locations, Santichaiprakarn Park, Phra Athit Road and at the Brick Bar in Bangkok’s budget tourist and entertainment centre Khao San Road where people can watch the 'Tootsie Horror (Reality) Show’.
There will be more than 50 theatre companies including traditional Thai performance arts to the experimental troupes. The Bangkok Theatre Festival is small but offers plenty of variety.
All offerings at the festival take place at weekends with shows taking place between 2pm and 10pm. The event runs until 20 November 2005. Tickets are around the 200 Baht mark (depending on the performance) and available at the various theatres involved.
Productions are mainly in Thai but this is well worth taking a look at if you are interested in a genuinely Thai experience. For more information, here are the contact details:
