Part of Thailand Grand Invitation 2006 celebrations for the 60th anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's accession to the throne of Thailand, the 27th Bangkok International Motor Show starts 24 March, 2006 and finishes 2 April, 2006 (although there's a Press Day on 22 March 2006 and VIP Day on 23 March 2006 if you are invited) with activities taking place between 10.00 and 20.00 daily.
Organized in cooperation between the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Grand Prix International Company Limited, the event takes place at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bangna, just north of Bangkok .
This show grows in stature every year and 2006 promises to be the biggest and best yet. The big names present include Volvo, Jaguar cars, Honda, Toyota, Daimler Chrysler, BMW, Chevrolet, Mazda and many, many more. A particular star of the show
is apparently Mazda's world debut of its new one-ton pickup range! Aside from the cars there will also be a wide range of car accessories and maintenance equipment on show.
This year the Bangkok International Motor Show offers masses to see and do with a range of shows which include a classic car show, a Volkswagen Club show, classic bikes, off road training, an overnight rally, a boat show, and the ubiquitous Miss Motor Show beauty contest.
The concept underpinning this year's show is “natural energy is the energy of the future” reflecting Thailand 's quest for alternative fuel sources for future use and a number of top companies will be presenting related technologies at the show.
How to get there:
The best way to BITEC is by BTS Skytrain getting off at On Nut Station – there will be a free shuttle bus from On Nut to BITEC during the period of the show.
