Jazz is pretty much flavour of the month in Thailand – yet another world-class jazz event in the Kingdom to whet the appetite of jazz aficionados in December. Sponsored by Heineken and supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Bangkok Jazz Festival 2006 takes place 16-18 December, 2006.
The venue for the event is Sanam Sua Pa – or Dusit Palace – a genuinely nice backdrop to such an event…
Picture lying on manicured lawns with a glass of best wine! Acts lined up include Incognito, Fourplay Band, Larry Carlton, Earl Klug, Bob James and a host of others.
Look forward to the final night when a select group of participating musicians will come together for a huge jamming session.
Things start hotting up around 20:00 so that when things get busy. There are no seats at the venue so you have to sit on the grass, although some people bring folding chairs.
Chairs with the Heineken logo should be available at the venue selling for around 500 Baht each, although that’s dependent on suggested changes in alcohol advertising laws – bring your own if you want to be on the safe side.
It might be a bit nippy this time of year, so bring a jacket or a sweater. Obviously the bigger bands will be on later in the evening.
To get there public transport is recommended (bus 70, 72; air-con bus 3), or get a taxi (80-90 Baht from the town centre) or a tuk-tuk (60-70 Baht from the town centre).
If you want to head off on you own the venue has ample parking.
