Tenth Kathu Cultural Street Festival Runs 27-29 July

The 10th Kathu Cultural Street Festival will take place in Kathu from 27 to 29 July 2018 on Wichit Songkhram Road. It showcases the cultural heritage and vibrate legacy of one of Phuket’s oldest communities.

The event plays an important role in preserving Kathu’s culture and traditions, as well as to encourage residents and tourists to learn more about the area, its history and its contribution to the growth of Phuket. Kathu has a long history of tin mining.

Kathu is also an important commercial hub in Phuket, due to the diversity of influence from generations of Chinese, Indian and Malaysian residents.

Guest will be treated to exhibitions of local art depicting the way of life in the Kathu community. There will also be exhibitions on local mining showcasing lifestyles during Phuket’s tin-mining era in six different stages of development. Screenings of classic films are another highlight, along with vintage bicycles and vehicles on display, stage performances, savory Thai food and local handicrafts featuring OTOP products.
