Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is the largest floating market in the vicinity and probably the one you've seen on the postcards. The market will quickly fill up with groups of tourists. If you want a more 'authentic' feel to your visit, it is best to get there as early as you can.
The market is located in Ratchaburi province some 80 kilometers southwest of Bangkok. It is most active between 06:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. so if you want a photo opportunity without tourists crowding your shots, get there early.
How to get there: This is a bit tricky to get to and so it might be worth considering the tours that are available around Bangkok. If you want to be independent, given the distances involved, a taxi is recommended.
Public buses leave the southern Bus Terminal every 40 minutes from 06:00 a.m. When you arrive at Damnoen Saduak you can get a boat to the market from the nearby pier. Many people combine a visit to this market with a visit to the Rose Garden and/or the Great Chedi in Nakhon Pathom although most people do this as part of a tour.
