Phuket Tasty Food Festival 2016

Venue: Thalang Road Phuket Town

The 2016 Phuket Tasty Food Festival will this year be held from 9 to 11 September in Phuket town along Thalang Road and will showcase the amazing multicultural dishes for which the island province is famous.

Phuket has long been home to a wide range of different peoples – from Hokkien Chinese tin miners, to Malay Muslims, Hindus and Christians – and they’ve all left their mark on the island’s culture, not to mention the cuisine. So there are many dishes and tastes here that you simply can’t find anywhere else. In fact, Phuket’s food is so distinctive that UNESCO has declared the island to be one of its “Gastronomy Cities” as a way of celebrating and protecting its unique flavours. The award, given last December, was the first in ASEAN and Phuket is one of only 18 other world cities to be so honoured.

The Phuket Tasty Festival celebrates this rich culinary heritage with a range of cooking demonstrations during which local chefs will show how to prepare the local fusion dishes and a “Tasty Seafood” zone selling some of the amazing fresh fish caught in the seas around the island. There will also be celebrity cooking competitions to enjoy in the “Tasty All Star” event. When thirst hits, try some of the fruity and potent drinks, many unique to the island.

Phuket Tasty will also feature cooking competitions between well-known chefs and celebrities. And when you’re full, there will be live music to enjoy on stage, as well as enjoyable performances. If you love food and fun, Phuket is the place to be this September.
