Probably a bit of a stretch to consider this 'Educational Tourism' but Thailand's 'International Schools' are certainly worthy of a mention in this section. As a regional hub for industry and commerce, Thailand has played host to legions of expatriates who live and work within the Kingdom. Some studies say there are at least 200,000 Americans living in Thailand, while others say that is about the total number of expatriates of all nationalities. Whichever study you read, one thing is true: there are enough 'expat' families here to help fuel an ever increasing number of 'International Schools' in the Kingdom. The range of choice of international school in Thailand is quite enormous compared to other countries. Some are small, intimate affairs, while others are really akin to the 'high schools' or 'comprehensives' you might see in the west. Wherever you are from, there is a path of study for your children to take. Schools with predominantly American and British systems exist while children of other nationalities can study at IB (International Baccalaureate) schools. There are also specialist schools for a variety of nationalities and religions. What follows is an outline of the available schools:
