A curious event to be sponsored by the Tourism Association of Thailand, but the fact that it is just might be evidence enough to show that grappling is enjoying a global popularity which has now reached Southeast Asia.
The Southeast Asian Grappling Games 2005 will take place at Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn University Indoor Stadium 26-27 November 2005. The ‘mixed martial art’ approach will see a number of grappling styles including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission, both of which have gained particular popularity. The games are though open for wrestlers, Judo players and many other disciplines.
There will be teams from 11 countries around the region fighting in a number of categories. The bouts will be held under CBJJ rules and modified ADCC rules. See the official website for more details: http://www.seagrappling.com |
