Second Annual Miss International Queen
25-29 October 2005 |
|
|
The Second Annual Miss International Queen pageant takes place in the city of Pattaya, Thailand 25-29 October, 2005. Organized by Pattaya’s world-famous ‘Tiffany's Show’ cabaret theatre, this is a beauty pageant with a difference – all contestants are transvestites or transgendered males. |
| |
| This is no tame drag queen competition; contestants come from all over the world and have perfected their art. Only the trained and experienced eye can readily identify that the beauties on show are not in fact female. Neither is their any trickery here. The pageant’s rules state clearly that contestants must show proof of their natural gender through birth certificates or doctor’s verification. |
| |
| Supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Tiffany’s show and its pageant are now enjoying cult status and world acclaim. As their web site proclaims, TravelCom Magazine ranked Tiffany’s show fourth in "Top 10 Shows around the World in 2001" behind the Moulin Rough in Paris, Siegfried & Roy and Mystere’s, both in Las Vegas. As you can see, the pageant comes from a very solid stable and so expect something good. |
| |
| The underlying theme of the pageant is social. Its objectives are to offer a positive image of transvestites and transgendered males and make steps towards their full acceptance in today's world. A donation to the Royal Sponsored AIDS Foundation is made from proceeds. |
| |
| Winning the pagent has some advantages – the ‘Miss International Queen’ title brings with it US$ 8,000, a crown, a trophy, sponsored gifts and domestic airline tickets. |
