It's that time of the year again! 19 May 2006 sees the annual Miss Tiffany's Universe pageant. This is an international beauty contest of the highest order – evening gowns, tiaras, tears… but despite its appearance, this is no ordinary contest. The glamorous ladies you see flaunting their good looks and grace are in fact women of "the second category", or in other words, men.

Miss Tiffany's Universe is a spin off of Pattaya's famous Tiffany's Show – what claims to be the first transvestite cabaret show in South East Asia … a “palace of decadence, spectacular elegance, and enjoyment”.

Organized in conjunction with the Tourist Association of Thailand, the event attracts thousands of visitors and has become a media favorite with coverage by the world's television and press. Last year's winner, Ms. Tiptantree Rujiranon, will hand over her crown to this year's winner who will represent Thailand at the Miss Queen of the Universe Contest" historically held in the US.

Miss Tiffany's Universe has a series of objectives, many of which it achieves. The event is designed to promote Thailand 's Tourism and Pattaya City 's major tourist attractions. It also aims to create human rights awareness and promote a positive image transvestitism. A portion of the proceeds go HIV infected children.
