Plaza Athenee Bangkok (formally the Royal Méridien Hotel) is situated on Wireless Road in Bangkok’s key business district and close to major embassies (US, UK, etc.). All rooms have amenities that include cable TV, computer data port, fax machine and video. Hotel services include local transfer, room service, security, sport facilities and fitness centre. The hotel is noted for its restaurants.

Located near Bangkok’s key business, entertainment and shopping areas, Asia Hotel is the only hotel connected directly to the BTS by walkway. Amenities include two swimming pools, a sauna and health club and its restaurants serve Thai, Chinese, Brazilian and Vietnamese cuisine. The hotel’s rooms are exquisitely furnished, each with IDD telephone, television, refrigerator and private bathroom.

Peachy Guesthouse in Banglampoo offers clean and functional accommodation at budget prices. A large establishment, Peachy has with three dormitory rooms (5 beds) and single, double, and triple rooms. There's a restaurant, Internet café (one of the cheapest in Bangkok at just 0.5 Baht per minute) and a TV lounge. This place is very much part of Bangkok’s backpacking culture and worth checking out.

The Khao San Palace is a good place to stay. Located directly on Bangkok’s Khao San Road, but set back from the road and quiet, its rooms are immaculately clean with attached bathroom and shower. Amenities include air-conditioning and TV with satellite channels. There is much more of a hotel feel about this place; it is certainly not a guesthouse. Right at the centre of the Khao San action. 

A quiet and clean guesthouse located on Bangkok’s Khao San Road – one of the originals and very well established. Its 28 double rooms are fan cooled and include private bathrooms. Clean, functional, and ideal for those trying to get the most out of their travelling budget. This is another guesthouse that is firmly part of the Banglampoo backpacker scene. 

Phra Athit Mansion offers clean, functional accommodation very close to Bangkok’s central backpacking area. Pra Athit offers spacious rooms with fridge, television, room service and a mini-bar. Some rooms have views of the river and it has a great in-house restaurant serving Thai and western favourites. Well positioned for other restaurants and entertainment. Very good for those on budgets.

The River View Guest House is a family-managed establishment off Bangkok’s China Town. It has the quality of providing budget prices whilst offering excellent views of the Chaopraya River. Its rooms are functional, comfortable and clean. The management here is renowned for going to great lengths to make your stay enjoyable. Although not easy to find, it is good value if budget is your concern.
