Museums in Bangkok

Thailand’s museums provide a fascinating insight into the country’s history and culture and Bangkok has some of the kingdom's most important museums...
Being the capital, Bangkok is home to some of the kingdom’s more important museums which cover a broad range of topics. Of course for those with a fascination for Thailand’s history, Bangkok’s National Museum is a ‘must see’ destination, as might be a visit to the Siam Society’s museum. However, it is interesting to note that almost every major destination in Bangkok where history and culture is the subject includes a small museum. Visit the small island of Koh Kret on the Chap Praya River, for instance, and alongside experiencing a traditional way of life that has remained the same for generations, you can also visit a museum with displays on the topic of the island and the crafts its inhabitants make. For people looking for something a bit different you might want to consider things like the Royal Carriage Museum, or even the Forensic Medicine Museum – home to a variety of corpses and haunting displays of forensic experiments like a skull used to trace the journey of a bullet through a healthy brain – urgh!

Must seeWorth seeing

If you are in the capital for a limited amount of time, check out some of Bangkok’s leading museums.
