For some reason not especially famed for its historical significance, Khon Khen was a key gateway to the Khmer kingdom, and numerous artifacts from this and other eras are on display at Khon Kaen’s museums. In addition, dinosaur fossils were found in the area and many of these have become museum exhibits. Certainly the most important of Khon Khen’s museums is its national museum.
