Bangkok has been regarded as the nightlife capital of the world, although with recent restrictions on closing times as part of the country’s ‘Social Order’ campaigns, whether this is still the case is debatable. Despite the new closing times, there’s still plenty to enjoy until 1 o’clock in the morning! Bangkok is of course famous for its Go-Go scene. The capital has three main Go-Go areas… Patpong, Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza, each packed with bars and hostesses. But Bangkok is much more than just Go-Go. Bangkok has some of the world’s best clubs and a thriving club scene. The capital also boasts regular concerts from foreign and local bands. Particularly important to the capital’s nightlife are its entertainment areas – places like Khao San Road and RCA are a massive draw for Thais and foreign visitors alike. In addition to world class cinemas offering both Hollywood blockbusters and foreign ‘art house’ cinema, the capital also has a range of shows (cabaret, etc.) which have received considerable acclaim. The arts – music and theatre – are also very well catered for. Very much an important part of the nightlife, Bangkok’s restaurants are sublime, serving the very best of Thai and international cuisine. Bangkok is without doubt a capital designed with nightlife in mind and to explore every possible nightlife avenue would take a lifetime! When you are in Bangkok, make sure you sample some of the capital’s nightlife – it is a remarkable experience.
