Baiyoke Tower II in Bangkok

Baiyoke Tower II
Bangkok

Baiyoke Tower II is well worth a visit if you have the time – and of course if you are OK with heights! This 90-storey tower went straight into the record books as the tallest building in Thailand and the world’s tallest hotel. It is one of the main landmarks punctuating the Bangkok skyline and once you get to know your way around Bangkok a little you’ll be using it to get your bearings when you venture onto unfamiliar turf. It’s possible to go up the tower to take a look around – there’s an ‘Observation Deck’ on the 77th floor which offers unparalleled panorama views of Bangkok. You can catch something to eat on the 76th floor “Sky Buffet” restaurant and for the fearless, there’s an 84th floor revolving “Roof Deck”. You will have to get into 3 different elevators to go to the top. However, if you are fit you can walk - 2,600 steps and it takes most people an hour to conquer the building! Probably best to be there around 17:00-18:30 so you get to see the sunset and Bangkok at night – quite amazing!

Details: Baiyoke Tower II is open Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 22:00 during the week and 09:30-22:00 at weekends and on holidays. Admission is 170 Baht for adults and 85 Baht for children.

How to get there: The nearest Skytrain BTS is Chidlom but it will still take a short taxi journey (40-50 Baht) to get there from the Skytrain.

The following buses will get you close to Baiyoke Tower:

Bus number: 13, 14, 54, 62, 63, 72, 73, 74
